Research Physical Scientist – NOAA PMEL
This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR), Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL), Ecosystems & Fisheries-Oceanography Coordinated Investigations (Eco-Foci) Program with two vacancies in Seattle, WA.
As a Research Physical Scientist, you will perform the following duties:
- As a Principal Investigator, lead and perform scientific analyses that contribute to the understanding of the distribution of, and variations in, patterns of ocean temperature, salinity, and currents, and their relationships to ocean dynamics, marine ecosystems, air-sea, or sea-ice interactions on a wide variety of timescales, from days to centuries.
- Lead and participate in the proposal, planning, organization, and execution of systematic largescale physical oceanographic field research programs to collect observational data, including from conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) instruments.
- Write scientific papers on physical oceanographic and interdisciplinary ecosystem research for publication in established peer-reviewed scientific journals, including use of observational and/or numerical model data from a variety of sources.
The duties described above are at the full performance level ZP-5. The duties at the ZP-4 level are developmental leading to such performance.
