Research Oceanographer – NASA

The Cryospheric Sciences Laboratory at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center is looking to hire a Civil Servant Research Oceanographer specializing in sea ice remote sensing or modelling. Candidates with a background in any aspect of sea ice research (observations such as passive microwave, optical, or altimetry studies; data-model integration; interdisciplinary studies such as sea ice-atmosphere-ocean connections) are encouraged to apply.  Applications will be accepted between April 26 and May 9, 2022 at: https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/648362800 

The mission of the Cryospheric Sciences Laboratory (https://science.gsfc.nasa.gov/earth/cryosphere) is to advance our understanding of Earth’s cryosphere and its relationship to other elements of the global climate system. If chosen, you will join a group of ~30 scientists who use cutting edge technology and techniques from model, ground-based, airborne, and space-borne data sets to characterize and understand ongoing changes in the Earth’s polar regions; one of the largest cryospheric sciences labs in the United States. 

Applicants must be US citizens, and the position can be filled by either an early-career scientist at the GS-13 level (equivalent to assistant professor) or mid-career scientist at the GS-14 level (equivalent to associate professor).
