Summary of Job Duties
The Coastal Oceanography & Autonomous System Lab is accepting applications for a Research & Development Engineer I. Under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, this work includes field deployment skills and working with collaborators at sea and/or in field locations. Secondary responsibilities include maintenance of lab systems and infrastructure. Physical duties include: the ability to move large crates several times per day; willingness to work on small boats.
Minimum Requirements
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and/or equivalent experience is required.The position requires effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative manner.
Desirable Requirements
Familiarity with the following equipment is highly desirable: REMUS AUVs, side scan sonar, acoustic current profilers, underwater optical instrumentation. Desirable software skills include: C, C++, Python, data analysis in Matlab, Linux shell programming, machine learning, image analysis, network and/or system administration.
