Postdoctoral position, Brandeis–Caltech
Jörn Callies (Caltech) and Albion Lawrence (Brandeis University) are seeking a postdoc to work on a NASA-funded project studying higher-order statistics of ocean currents via satellite altimetry, in situ observations, and numerical modeling. The position is for three years, contingent on performance. It is a joint Brandeis–Caltech position with employment through Brandeis. The 2023-24 academic year will take place at Caltech (when Lawrence will be a visiting fellow there); the location in subsequent years is open to negotiation.
We are interested in candidates with a background in physical oceanography, high energy physics, condensed matter physics, cosmology, or a related field. We seek someone who has a keen interest in oceanography and geophysical fluid dynamics, although prior work in these fields is not required. Prior computational experience is helpful.
Applicants should upload a cover letter, curriculum vita, research statement (~500-1000 words), and list of publications to Academic Jobs Online (link below), and arrange for at least three letters of reference to be uploaded as well. For full consideration, please submit by Dec. 31, although we may consider applications sent after that date.
Candidates from minoritized groups are encouraged to apply.
