Postdoc – Naval Postgraduate School

Ocean Dynamics and Modeling

Several research projects are available in physical oceanography and geophysical fluid dynamics. The Associate is expected to use analytical and numerical methods to study physical processes involved in the formation and motion of the oceanic water masses. Particular topics include but are not limited to (1) development of the illustrative large-scale circulation models of the mid-latitude thermocline and the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, (2) studies of the ocean mesoscale jets and vortices, (3) analysis and modeling of double diffusive convection, and (4) analysis of the wave resistance effects in the context of the ship wave problem.
