MPOWIR Strategic Plan
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Over the past eight months, we have embarked on a thoughtful journey together – listening, learning, and shaping the future of MPOWIR hand-in-hand with our incredible community. We are thrilled and inspired to share our newly charted path forward.
This collaborative process has powerfully reaffirmed that our mission is more vital than ever. The need for genuine, community-driven mentorship remains the cornerstone of career development and wellbeing in our field. The plan we are sharing today is a direct result of your voices, and outlines our renewed commitment to improving gender equity in Physical Oceanography and, in turn, science in general.
This crucial work, however, depends on a stable foundation. In light of recent federal funding changes, we sought partners who believe in our vision. We are overjoyed to share that the Schmidt Ocean Institute (SOI) and the EveryPage Foundation have generously stepped forward to fund much of MPOWIR’s work and participant costs for the coming year, ensuring our momentum continues unabated.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We are incredibly grateful for the MPOWIR community who continues to advance MPOWIR’s goals by contributing time, wisdom, and passion to lift each other up. And thank you to our partners SOI and EveryPage Foundation – your belief in us fuels our progress.
