Interdisciplinary Ocean Policy Specialist, National Science Foundation
The National Science Foundation is seeking qualified candidates for an Interdisciplinary (Ocean Policy Specialist) position in the Division of Ocean Sciences (OCE) within the Directorate for Geosciences (GEO), Alexandria, VA.
The Ocean Policy Specialist provides ocean policy governance, and operational support to OCE, interagency committees within the Executive Office of the President, and community advisory entities. Ideally, the Ocean Policy Specialist will have knowledge of ocean or ocean-related science and technology fields and issues; understanding of ocean or ocean-related science and technology policy governance; experience with ocean or ocean-related policy analysis, development, and/or implementation; familiarity with the interplay between science and policy and the ability to communicate across thee areas; exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate and track multiple, simultaneous activities; and skill in technical writing.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a biological science, physical science, or a related science discipline; OR a Master’s degree in a biological science, physical science, or a related science discipline plus, after award of the Master’s degree, two or more years of successful research, research administration, program or policy analysis, and/or managerial experience pertinent to the position; OR a Bachelor’s degree in a biological science, physical science, or a related science discipline plus, after award of the Bachelor’s degree, four or more years of successful research, research administration, program or policy analysis, and/or managerial experience pertinent to the position.
