Tenure-track position in Earth Science – Mount Holyoke College

Mount Holyoke College is recruiting candidates for a tenure-track position in Earth Science, to begin in Fall 2022. We will search for a geoscientist whose research interests are in the earth, ocean, atmospheric, or polar sciences. We seek candidates with enthusiasm for interdisciplinary education and a demonstrable potential for outstanding scholarly contributions in research. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the geosciences and experience mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion. A Ph.D. is required (we will consider A.B.D. candidates who will be granted their PH.D by time of hire).

Although the position will initially be housed in the Department of Geology and Geography, it will soon be in a new Department of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability (EES). The EES curriculum will offer students a foundation for understanding Earth’s natural systems and their interactions with political, economic, social, cultural, and historical factors from global to local scales. The new EES Department will result from a planned merger of the Department of Environmental Studies with the Department of Geology and Geography. The successful candidate will participate in building this new interdisciplinary major and curriculum, and they will mentor undergraduate students in their research program.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we are not accepting applications at this time. Please share your name and email address with us using the final page of this form, if you wish to receive an email notification when the online application portal opens up for this position.
