Research Associate – CIMAS
A Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) Research Associate II position at the University of Miami (UM) was just advertised on UM Workday.
This position involves collaboration with the instrumentation group in the Physical Oceanography Division of NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML). The successful candidate is expected to have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science, technology, or engineering field and at least two years of relevant work experience in an ocean research environment.
The applicant must be willing and physically able to spend up to 120 cumulative days per year at sea on oceanographic research vessels and merchant ships to collect scientific data. Most cruises will range from 2 to 14 days, but cruises of up to 60 days may be required. Such work requires a degree of physical mobility, and the incumbent may need to occasionally be able to lift and move items of up to 40 lbs during fieldwork.
