Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences
Overview
Applications are being accepted for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position at the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences working with Dr. Nicholas Record. The position has an expected start date of January 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The primary goal of the NASA-funded research is to develop ocean-based phenological indices for use in the National Climate Assessment. The project is collaboration between Bigelow Laboratory, the University of Maine, the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of physical and biological oceanography and climate science. Work will include data analysis and modeling, primarily using NASA satellite measurements. Candidates should have programming experience in Matlab, R, Python, or similar programming environment, and should be knowledgeable in oceanography, large scale ecology, or similar fields. Strong oral and written communication skills are also critical.
