We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral research assistant to join Environmental Fluid Mechanics group at the Department of Engineering Science. The post is funded by EPSRC and NERC and is fixed-term for 8 months.
The project will be supervised by Professor Thomas Adcock and Professor Ton van den Bremer. Your work will look at water wave mechanics. The focus of the project will be the analysis of experimental data already generated at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the output of numerical modelling work done in Oxford. A focus will be on the interaction of long and short gravity waves. You will hold a PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in engineering, oceanography or mathematics and possess specialist knowledge of ocean wave mechanics or closely related area. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work well as part of a research team and manage your own academic research is essential. Experience of using fully non-linear potential flow solvers (e.g Oceanwave3D or HOS solvers is desirable. Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Thomas Adcock (thomas.adcock@eng.ox.ac.uk).
