Postdoctoral or senior researcher, ocean biophysical modeling – Princeton University

Position Description:
The Department of Geosciences at Princeton University has an opening for a postdoctoral or more senior researcher in the area of ocean biophysical modeling to work with Professor Laure Resplandy, in collaboration with Jessica Luo from the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory. The researcher will investigate the biological and physical carbon pumps occurring at small spatial and temporal scale using a high-resolution bio-physical model and existing observations. The researcher will specifically examine how ecosystem patchiness, vertical plankton migration and trophic interactions at the eddy scale influence the ocean carbon pump.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in numerical modeling, but candidates with the necessary background in geophysical fluid dynamics and/or ocean biogeochemistry will be given full consideration. A Ph.D. in Geosciences or related field is required. The position is available for one year, with a possibility for renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding. Applicants should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae including a publication list, and contact information for three references by applying at the Princeton University Academic Hiring website at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/17884.

This position is subject to the University’s background check policy. Princeton University is an equal opportunity employer/affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
