Gordon Research Conference on Coastal Ocean Dynamics
Conference announcement
We are organizing the Gordon Research Conference on Coastal Ocean Dynamics (GRC, https://www.grc.org/coastal-ocean-dynamics-conference/2025/) this year at Colby-Sawyer College (New Hampshire, USA) during June 8-13. In addition, the Gordon Research Seminar on Coastal Ocean Dynamics (GRS, https://www.grc.org/coastal-ocean-dynamics-grs-conference/2025/) will be organized for Early-Career Scientists during the weekend before (June 7-8) at the same location. With the specific topics “Exploring the Diverse Dynamics of the World’s Coastal Seas” (GRC) and “Probing the Physics of the World’s Coastal Seas” (GRS) we intend to emphasize the role of estuaries and coastal seas around all the world for the understanding of coastal ocean dynamics.
GRC and GRS are known for their personal and inclusive atmosphere with plenty of opportunities for networking and scientific exchange between 120-180 colleagues from institutions worldwide. For the GRC, we have invited 22 speakers focusing on various aspects of coastal physical oceanography and related areas. All other participants will present posters, for which ample display and discussion time is given. During a Power Hour, we will address the interests and needs of all scientists and the challenges they face in their careers. In the afternoons, there will be time for sports and leisure activities with colleagues.
Please check out the websites of these two connected meetings. Note that early-career scientists (master’s and PhD students and postdoc stages) should visit both websites, the GRS and the GRC, while scientists beyond the postdoc stage are only admitted to the GRC. Although the deadlines are May 10 (GRS) and May 11 (GRC), we recommend applying soon, since experience shows that the conferences are often overbooked before the deadline.
We hope to meet many of you during the GRS & GRC.
Melanie Fewings & Hans Burchard (GRC Chairs), Julie Pietrzak & Arnoldo Valle Levinson (GRC Vice-Chairs), and Ágata Piffer Braga & Betina Brockamp (GRS Chairs)
