Faculty Positions in Coastal Physical Oceanography

The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) invites applications for tenure track faculty positions in Observational Coastal/Estuarine Physical Oceanography at the Horn Point Laboratory (HPL) in Cambridge, MD. Successful candidates will be expected to develop externally funded research programs, to be committed to graduate education, and are encouraged to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries. The positions require a Ph.D., with post-doctoral experience preferred, and are open to applicants at all ranks.

UMCES conducts research on terrestrial and marine environmental science at its four laboratories across Maryland and participates in graduate education through the University of Maryland Marine, Estuarine and Environmental Sciences Program.  Opportunities for interdisciplinary research are outstanding, as is access to Chesapeake Bay and the mid-Atlantic coast.  A broad range of field equipment is available, along with excellent lab facilities.

Candidates should send electronic copies of their letter of application, curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching interests, and the names and addresses of three referees to pofacultyposition@umces.edu.  More information about HPL and UMCES can be found at: http://www.umces.edu/hpl. Review of applications will begin January 15, 2018.

UMCES is committed to building a culturally diverse faculty and strongly encourages applications from under-represented groups and individuals with experience in working with and mentoring diverse students. UMCES is an EEO/AA employer.  Individuals with disabilities, veterans, women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
